Using Spunbond Polypropylene

Spunbond polypropylene is something that’s strong, and almost clothlike.  It actually protects the surfaces of products during the shipment stage.

This textile doesn’t tear or puncture that easily, so it gives you some peace of mind during the transit of products.

How it’s made

Spunbound refers in most cases to the weaving of the item to create a material that’s weblike. The strength of this comes from the thermal bonding that’s there. It’s similar to what happens to metal and sheets when you weld them.  The fibers get heated up, and they melt against each other.  There are different manufacturers that utilize different techniques in order to heat this, including applying heated rolls and the like.

Once these fibers are cooled down, you get left with a textile that’s strong enough to withstand the shipping pressures.

Benefits and Drawbacks of polypropylene

Unlike various other forms of packaging to protect items. The spunbond polypropylene won’t protect the items that you have if they get crushed or dropped.  You should always account for other types of materials that protect.

You also will want to test out this effectiveness in order to ensure that there are some good results with this that make you happy.

Some benefits include:

  • It’s soft
  • It’s breathable
  • Lightweight
  • Not toxic
  • There’s no chemical additives
  • Friendly to the environment
  • Resistant to tearing
  • Reduces the warehouse space.

The downside is they shouldn’t be used alone, but they’re a great additive to some other products and uses.

“Different cases where Spunbond Polypropylene are Great for

There are different uses of spunbond polypropylene, and they include a few that we’re going to mention below.

First is electronics. Phones, laptops, even tablets all contain screens that are easy to shatter when shipped out. Electronics need extra layers in order to protect them. While foam and bubble sheets do the trick, polypropylene is great for preventing screen cracks and shatters.

Cars are another one.  This is great for putting over the breakable parts of cars, which include mirrors.  Adding this to car mirrors will help with prevention of scratches. Those that manufacture cars use this in between the factory and the dealership, in order to properly protect everything they have.

Steering wheels also may use this.  The band that’s used around the main circumference allows it to fit right over the wheel, and it’s protected directly from oil and grease.

If you own an auto repair shop, you use steering wheel covers in order to keep the interior clean during service.  It also is good for moving cars from one location to another.  You can also reuse this type of covering too, to help with protecting the vehicles again, while also preventing the costs from being eaten up.

Wooden Furniture

Finally, you want to use this for wood furniture. This is because wooden furniture is susceptible to scratches and also little gouges during the shipment process. You need some polypropylene packaging to protect this.. while wood furniture doesn’t really make it so that it’s protected the same way that electronics are, you need something to prevent the scratches and the scrapes that are there.

That’s why spunbonded polypropylene is used, as this can prevent the wood from getting further damaged. You can get this in bags, sleeves to throw over this, sheets, and even tubing too.

This is a great way to protect the items during shipment, and if you want to prevent the items from being damaged during delivery, then you want to use this, in order to keep your business going.
